Individuals

As a registered charity, Dance Umbrella receives just half of its income from public funding. Support from individuals, therefore, plays a vital role in enabling important work to be presented that otherwise would not happen.

As we firmly believe in the importance of this type of work, we are  commissioning Royston Maldoom who will present Exile at Dance Umbrella 2013.

Exile follows in the footsteps of Maldoom’s Overture 2012, a participatory performance that took place in 2008 and changed the lives of 120 children and their parents.

What could be more rewarding than giving young performers a chance to show their talent alongside professionals? Play a role in helping us to present Exile, a large-scale project involving up to 120 young dancers aged 8-17 and an orchestra made up of young players drawn from London Symphony Orchestra’s education programmes, joined by the London Symphony Orchestra itself. Exile will be performed in East London and will be both a highlight of Dance Umbrella 2012 and a key event for London, at the start of the Olympic legacy.

We need your help in making Maldoom's Exile happen.

I support Dance Umbrella because I love dance and believe they represent the most diverse and vibrant programme of dance in the UK.

Recent projects which have benefited from the generosity of individuals include Dance Umbrella’s presentation of Common Dance, Overture 2012: Power and Passion, and Ocean.

Help us to continue to bring such exceptional work to an even wider audience. We can offer you the enormous satisfaction of sharing in the creation of events that bring surprise, pleasure and inspiration to thousands of people.
