Facts and figures since the first Dance Umbrella festival in 1978:

• Dance Umbrella has introduced 665 contemporary dance artists/companies from over 28 countries, to over a million people in London.
  
  
• Of these companies, 323 were from the UK; 135 from across Europe; 207 from across the world (largest % from USA followed by Canada, with the remainder from Africa, Australia, China, Israel, Japan, New Zealand and Russia).
  
  
• Dance Umbrella has commissioned 61 new dance works from 28 different artists.
  
  
• Dance Umbrella Outdoors began in 2007 with free-to-view events in unusual spaces across London watched by over 21,000 people.
  
  
• Dance Umbrella has presented 1,770 performances of contemporary dance at 48 different venues in London from Almeida Theatre to Whitechapel Art Gallery and from The British Library to Smithfield Market.
  
  
• Dance Umbrella has toured international and British contemporary dance companies to 48 cities across the UK – from Aberdeen to Truro, Stoke on Trent to Dursley, Snape to Newcastle.
